Five Ways to Own Your Power as a Woman

8 March is International Women’s Day, and it’s time to step up and own your voice and power as a strong woman.

1. Know your worth in the industry
Women often get paid less than men for doing the same job. By doing your research and knowing what you should be earning, you can ensure that you get paid correctly for the role you are in and are not being paid less because you are a woman.

2. Start thinking about yourself
For centuries, women have been taught to take care of those around them – which means that women often put themselves last. An important step in owning your power as a woman is taking care of yourself and learning to say “no” to the things you don’t like or don’t want to do.

3. Stop worrying about what others think
You are an amazing person and you don’t need anyone’s approval. Once you stop worrying about others’ opinions, you’ll learn to love and value yourself.

4. Share your point of view
How often do you keep quiet because you tell yourself “it’s probably an irrelevant thing to say”? Stop doubting yourself and value your own opinion.

5. Decide what’s important to you
Being a strong woman isn’t about saying “no” to starting a family or cooking in the kitchen, and “yes” to going to work in a suit – it’s about understanding what YOU want out of life. What’s important is understanding your authentic self – and having the courage to go and do what fulfils YOU.
